Zhang Liangying invites Liu Xiang to concert
Zhang Liangying, whose fame has grown as third-place finisher in the nation's tele-vised "Super Girl"singing contest, had hoped that Olympic Gold medal hurdler Liu Xiangmight attend the Super Girls'concert in Shanghai.
She tried to lure him there with an offer of two free concert tickets, but Liu,apparentlytoo busy with other matters, didn't show up.
A report in the Beijing News story said Zhang met Liu at his training camp, just af-
ter she had arrived Thursday in Shanghai.Zhang and the other Super Girls had arrived inthe city in preparation for the Super Girls'second concert in coastalmetropolis as part of a national tour.
Zhang, hailed by many as the best singer and prettiest amongthe red-hot contestants, admitted Liu was her idol, and told report-ers she had been "very happy"to see him up close.
The singer also said she could still recall all the "emotional mo-
ments"she and other Chinese felt when witnessing Liu win the gold medal for China in
Athens last summer.
When the young woman and Liu chatted briefly at his camp, the hurdler told Zhanghe had been really impressed by her English singing skills and thought she had been "real-ly competitive"in the contest. He joked that he wanted to learn some singing skills from
Zhang,if possible. The hurdler has been taking English lessons.
That's when Zhang offered him two concert tickets-one for Liu and the other forhis coach.Excited, she went on watching the formidable(令人敬畏的)Liu work out.
However,Liu didn't choose to attend the concert, apparently too busy preparingfor his upcoming performances at the 10th National Games set for October 20.

Will there ever be another Einstein? This is the undercur-rent of conversation at Einstein memorial meetings throughoutthe year.A new Einstein will appear, scientists say.But it maytake a long time. After all, more than 200 years separated Ein-stein from Isaac Newton.
Many physicists say the next Einstein hasn't been born yet,or is a baby now. That's because the search for a unified theorythat would explain all the forces of nature has pushed current
mathematics to its limits.New math must be created before the problem can be solved.
But researchers say there are many other factors working against another Einsteinappearing anytime soon. For one thing.physics is a much different field today. In
Einstein's day, there were.a few thousand physicists worldwide, and the theorists whocould argue with Einstein probably would fit into a streetcar with seats to spare.Educa-tion is different, too. One key aspect of Einstein's training that is little noticed is theyears of philosophy()he read as a teenager -Kant,Schopenhauer and Spinoza,a-mong others. It taught him how to think independently about space and time and itwasn't long before he became a philosopher himself.
And Einstein was a clever musician. The interplay between music and math is well-known.Einstein would play his violin hard as a way to think through a knotty physics problem.
Today, universities have produced millions of physicists. There aren't many jobs in
science for them,so they go to Wall Street and Silicon Valley to apply their analyticalskills. Those who stay in science don't work alone and they sometimes do experimenttogether which takes years.
It's hard to imagine a renegade(背叛者)like Einstein standing it.“Maybe there is an
Einstein out there today,"said Columbia University physicist Brian Greene,"but itwould be a lot harder for him to be heard.
5According to the second paragraph, the next Einstein will
A.have to create new math
B.create a unified theory
C.have to be born now
D.push math to its limits
The underlined words "knotty"in the fourth paragraph means
Which of the following will be useful for the next Einstein to beborn?
A.There will be music around.
B.There will be no problems to solve.
C.There will be suitable philosophy to study.
D.There are only a few physicists.
Which of the following will be the best title for the passage?
A.Wait for the Next Coming Einstein.
B.Environment Needed for the Birth of the Next Einstein.
C.Philosophy-The Next Einstein Wants.
D.Einstein and the Next Einstein.
1.That's because the search for a unified theory that would explain all theforces of nature has pushed current mathematics to its limits..那是因为对寻找一个解释大自然全部力量的统一的理论已经把目前的数学推到了其极限。

2.In Einstein's day, there were a few thousand physicists worldwide, and thetheorists who could argue with Einstein probably would fit into a streetcar with seatsto spare,.在爱因斯坦时代，世界范围内有几千名物理学家，并且，能够和爱因斯坦争论的理论家或许会坐进有闲座的有轨电车。
